Word Work: Morning Centers

Word Work: Morning Centers

After reflecting, I knew that I needed to change my morning work routine. My students did the same paper pencil based assignment each week. It was boring. Many of them seemed to be going through the motions just to be done. After finishing they could work on an early finisher activity. Some activities were logic games, building challenges, etc. I loved that they had a little time each morning to collaborate and practice social skills before diving into our day.

"How can I get them collaborating, socializing, & practicing spelling in the same manner?", I wondered. I wanted to create morning center activities that catered to specific word study skills, were engaging, and needed NO extra prep once created! I spent about 2+ hours in Target (not  kidding...), walking around, looking at goodies, & gaining inspiration for simple yet effective word work activities! Here are the TEN activities along with materials, links, & a how to play video!

Containers are from Target ($2.64) and I used these Adhesive Rectangular Labels from Target ($3.00 for 20?) by placing them on the front. I cut the adhesive labels in half.
