Lesson Five: Tools & Materials at a Makerspace

Identify tools & materials that can be used within a makerspace.

Most of what is in my makerspace has been donated and collected by my students and their families, except for makerspace technology!

At the beginning of the year I like to send out this makerspace/STEM supply form. I quickly check off any supplies that we are needing in our classroom makerspace and send the paper home to families. When students bring in donations we celebrate them and thank them for their contribution.

Here are some common consumable items found in our makerspace.

Here are examples of building materials.

The Makerspace Technology section of my website has list of great apps and other tech that can be used in a makerspace. It includes an explanation of each item, a how to video, and project ideas. It’s updated regularly so be sure to check it out!
