Guided Math Instruction: A Blog Post Series
Teaching math during my first year of teaching was a nightmare. I tried whole group, I tried centers, I tried anything my coworkers would suggest. Nothing seemed to be working for my twenty seven second graders and myself! Can you relate?! Thankfully I made it through that first year (barely). I started implementing guided math during my second year of teaching. My students as well as myself began to feel successful. Now it's my fifth year of teaching- four years of implementing guided math instruction and I'm never going back to whole group!
In this blog post series I dive into the specifics of how I design, plan, and implement guided math in my second grade classroom. There are many different ways to implement guided math, however the approach that I've taken within my own classroom is hands-on, accessible to all learners, integrates STEM & technology, and is differentiated.
